The true extent of absence due to musculo-skeletal pain is often under-estimated by companies.
Audits
On-site osteopathy is certainly a ‘nice-to-have’. It is popular with staff, and it can help with recruitment and retention. But in order to further justify the expense, you need hard facts on reduced absence and improved performance to demonstrate value-for-money and make a solid business case for it.
We will work with you to audit your present position so the benefits can be clearly demonstrated to even the most sceptical Financial Director.
You may have the kind of detailed record-keeping which will enable you to quantify time lost due to musculo-skeletal pain – and a sophisticated financial model which converts this into loss of profit. But if not we can help you do a survey via a simple email questionnaire which will help to quantify time lost and under-performance.
Getting the real position
Even in companies with a sophisticated system for recording the causes of absence, in reality the picture may be neither full nor clear.
- Staff may be absent for only part of a day – typically they may arrive late after treatment, or leave early to get treatment in the afternoon, without this registering as absence on your system.
- Staff may be working at reduced efficiency because of pain, which is unlikely to be recorded
- People may attribute their absence to symptoms rather than the real cause which is a musculo-skeletal problem – e.g. taking time off work because of ‘headaches’,which is what would be recorded, when the real cause is an inflamed joint in the neck.
For this reason, whenever possible, we like to use email questionnaires to establish the true extent of the problem in a company. Using a customised calculator we can then establish the cost to you company – which you can compare with the projected cost of treatment.

Some conditions – for example, some kinds of neck pain – can be cured in a single session. Others, where the problem is more deep-seated, may take several sessions.
